Complete Pike Fishing Set 244 cm 15–40 g
We have put together this pike fishing set at Hengelsport 2000 for casting with lures. It combines a 244 cm 13 Fishing Fate Black rod with an Okuma Azaki AZ 30 FD reel. Braided line, two wire leaders, pre-rigged Cannibal Shads with a box, unhooking pliers and an unhooking mat are also included.
We spool the reel before delivery, taking care of part of the preparation and saving you the job of selecting every component separately.
Fate Black rod for bank fishing
The 13 Fishing Fate Black measures 244 cm and has a casting weight of 15–40 g. Its length gives you more reach when guiding your line along the bank than a shorter rod. This is useful when fishing canals, drains and lakes.
Choose lures within the rod’s stated casting range. With softbaits, include both the lure and rig in the total weight. Heavy jerkbaits and large swimbaits exceeding 40 g require a more powerful rod.
Okuma Azaki reel, supplied pre-spooled
The Okuma Azaki AZ 30 FD features a front drag. We spool it with 0.18 mm Nihonto Octa 8 Braid Green. Braid has little stretch, helping you feel lure movement and detect takes.
Before fishing, assemble the rod, attach the reel and thread the line through the guides. Then attach your leader and lure. Adjust the drag so the reel can release line when pressure increases during a fight.
Wire leaders for pike fishing
The set includes two 30 cm Mikado Dream Leader 7x7 wire leaders with a stated breaking strain of 12 kg. A wire leader protects the connection between your main line and lure against pike teeth.
Check the leader, snap and knots regularly for damage, including after catching a pike or getting snagged.
12.5 cm Cannibal Shads with a box
You receive a 12.5 cm Savage Gear Cannibal Shad Mix RTF, including a storage box. RTF stands for Ready To Fish: the softbaits are pre-rigged and can be attached to your leader once your rod and reel are prepared.
Start with a steady retrieve, then introduce short pauses or changes of speed. The lure sinks further during a pause, so account for the depth and any weed or obstacles.
Unhooking pliers and mat included
The stainless steel unhooking pliers help you reach the hook. The Freestyle Lite Mat 100 CLK provides a surface for placing your catch while unhooking it. Wet the mat first and keep time out of the water to a minimum.
A landing net and hook cutters are not included. These are useful additions for landing pike and cutting a hook when necessary.
A tip from Hengelsport 2000
When fishing a reed line or weed bed, try casting diagonally along its edge where space allows. This keeps your lure close to potential hiding places for longer.
Check the swimming action close to the bank and try different retrieve speeds. This helps you learn how the shad responds and how far it sinks during a pause.
