I have been fishing for about 50 years, "it is an addiction". This addiction started in 1965.
Until 1974 (14 years) I happily fished for coarse fish, until I caught my first carp, and I was sold right away!! I fished for carp with the float, using baits such as potatoes, luncheon meat, bread flake, worms and dough.
In 1980 something new came along: "boilies". In 1980 I was one of the first to fish with boilies on the Sloterplas.
My best years were 1982 to 1998. It may sound exaggerated, but back then we caught a few hundred carp in one season on the Sloterplas (I lived right next to the Sloterplas). After I moved, I pushed my limits to really big water, and with success.
From 1994 to 2006 I spent a number of years focusing on competition fishing.
In June 2000 I turned my hobby into my work and started a tackle shop: "Hengelsport 2000 in Amsterdam" on the Christiaan Huygensplein in Amsterdam, which we outgrew after 15 years.
In 2015 we moved to a bigger shop in Diemen. I now run this shop together with my son Danny and my wife Zamira.
Danny was youth champion in coarse fishing of Amsterdam three times. He still regularly goes out on the boat to fish for pike and zander. He has also specialised in carp fishing. You can come to him with all your questions too.
We have moved with the times, so we also have an extensive webshop where you can order safely and easily. Come by and let us advise you over a cup of coffee.
Now I am an all-round angler. In spring and autumn I fish for predators such as pike and zander, in May I spend a week in Norway fishing for cod and big pollock, and in summer and autumn I fish for carp.
I enjoy every fish I catch, big or small. Because whoever does not honour the small has forgotten how to enjoy!!!
