Complete Zander Fishing Set 244 cm 10–30 g
We have put together this zander fishing set at Hengelsport 2000 for active lure fishing. It combines a 244 cm 13 Fishing Fate Black rod with an Okuma Azaki AZ 30 FD reel. Braided line, wire leaders, pre-rigged softbaits with a box, unhooking pliers and an unhooking mat are also included.
We spool the reel before delivery, saving you the job of selecting every component separately and helping you prepare your setup at home.
Fate Black rod for bank fishing
The 13 Fishing Fate Black measures 244 cm and has a casting weight of 10–30 g. Compared with a shorter boat rod, the additional length gives you more reach when guiding your line along the bank. This is useful when casting from quays and fishing canals.
Match the total lure weight to the rod. With a softbait, this includes both the lure and jig head. For heavy rigs exceeding 30 g, choose a rod with a higher casting rating.
Okuma Azaki reel with pre-spooled braid
The Okuma Azaki AZ 30 FD features a front drag. We spool it with the included 0.12 mm Nihonto Octa 8 Braid Green. Braid has little stretch, helping you maintain contact with your softbait and detect takes.
Before fishing, assemble the rod, attach the reel and thread the line through the guides. Then attach your leader and lure. Check the drag setting so the reel can release line under pressure.
Craft Shads with a storage box
The included Savage Gear Craft Shad Mix RTF contains pre-rigged softbaits and comes with a box. Once your rod and reel are prepared, attach a lure to the leader.
Try working the shads close to the bottom with short movements, allowing them to sink back down under control between lifts. Vary the retrieve speed and pauses to find what the fish respond to.
Wire leaders for waters containing pike
The set includes two 25 cm Mikado Dream Leader 7x7 wire leaders with a stated breaking strain of 6 kg. These protect the connection to your lure against pike teeth, making them useful on waters where pike may take a lure intended for zander.
Check the leader, snap and knots regularly for wear or damage, especially after catching a fish or getting snagged.
Unhooking pliers and mat included
The stainless steel unhooking pliers help you reach the hook. The Freestyle Lite Mat 100 CLK provides a surface for placing your catch while unhooking it. Wet the mat first and keep time out of the water to a minimum.
A landing net is not included. When fishing from a high quay, choose a net with enough reach to land your catch.
A tip from Hengelsport 2000
When fishing close to the bottom, choose a jig weight that lets you recognise bottom contact without using unnecessary weight. Maintain contact with the line during the drop, as a take can occur while the softbait sinks.
Current and depth help determine the weight you need. If you repeatedly lose contact with the lure, adjust your rig or fishing position while staying within the rod’s casting rating.
