Savage Gear 3D Line Thru Whitefish 36 cm
The Savage Gear 3D Line Thru Whitefish is a large swimbait for pike anglers who want to present a substantial baitfish imitation. Its design is based on a 3D scan of a real whitefish. Measuring 36 cm and weighing 478 g, this lure requires a suitable tackle setup.
Natural swimming action and reinforced joints
The articulated body gives the Whitefish a flowing swimming action. Its joints are reinforced with mesh. An additional eye beneath the chin allows you to attach a suitable extra weight to adjust the sinking behaviour.
The actual fishing depth depends on factors including speed, line length, current and any added weight. Remember that the lure will sink when you slow down or stop.
Trolling advice from our experience
At Hengelsport 2000, we use a trolling speed of approximately 2.6–3.7 km/h as a starting point for this Whitefish. Check its swimming action beside the boat first and adjust your speed to suit the conditions.
Because of its relatively low resistance when trolling, we have experience using this lure with a suitable rod rated to cast up to 150 g. This advice applies only to trolling and does not mean every rod with that rating is suitable. The rod’s construction and load capacity remain important.
Planning to cast it?
For casting, the complete lure and rig weight must be taken into account. Use a heavy-duty swimbait rod designed for that load, together with a suitable reel, line and connections. Our trolling advice for a rod rated up to 150 g does not apply to casting this 478 g swimbait.
How does the Line Thru system work?
During the fight, the lure body can slide up the leader and away from the hooks. This reduces the opportunity for a pike to use the heavy body as leverage to shake the hooks free. It can also help reduce damage to the soft plastic body.
