The Savage Gear 4D Line Thru Roach 25 cm is a large soft plastic lure for targeting pike. Its body is based on a 3D scan of a real roach. A lifelike 4D print, natural swimming action and added scent create a convincing large baitfish presentation.

Casting and trolling

The Roach can be cast or trolled behind a boat. When casting, use a steady retrieve and optionally add short pauses to let the lure sink. When trolling, adjust your speed and the amount of line out to achieve the presentation you want.

This swimbait weighs 200 or 216 g, depending on the version. For casting, use a heavy-duty swimbait rod with a suitable casting weight rating, allowing for any additional rig components.

Which version should you choose: SS or MS?

The SS version weighs 200 g and sinks slowly. It is a logical choice when you want to fish shallower water or present the lure at a slow pace.

The MS version weighs 216 g and sinks faster than the SS, making it easier to explore deeper water.

The actual fishing depth depends on factors including sinking time, retrieve or trolling speed, line length and current. SS and MS describe the sinking characteristics, rather than a fixed swimming depth.

How does the Line Thru system work?

During the fight, the lure body can slide up the leader and away from the hooks. This reduces the opportunity for a pike to use the heavy body as leverage to shake the hooks free. It can also help reduce damage to the lure.
